‘Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.’

A Counselling Services

Are you feeling overwhelmed by life's challenges? Perhaps you're grappling with anxiety, battling depression, or struggling to find meaning in your day-to-day existence. Maybe you're facing a major life transition or dealing with unresolved trauma from your past. Whatever brings you here, know that you're not alone. I'm here to listen, to understand, and to support you on your journey towards healing and self-discovery.

I'm Amali Hapugoda, a BACP-accredited integrative counsellor based in Surrey. I work with adult individuals (18+) and couples, offering both short-term and long-term therapy. My services are available online and in person, providing flexibility to suit your needs.

Using an integrative approach, I draw from various therapeutic methods to tailor our sessions to your unique situation. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues, or other emotional challenges, I'm here to help you navigate through these difficulties and work towards a more fulfilling life.

Understanding the Therapeutic Journey

Counselling is a collaborative process where we work together to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe, non-judgmental space. It's an opportunity for you to gain deeper insights into yourself, develop new coping strategies, and work towards positive change. In our sessions, you'll have the freedom to express yourself openly, reflect on your challenges, and discover new perspectives. My role is to listen attentively, offer support, and guide you towards your goals. Remember, counselling isn't about giving advice, but about empowering you to find your own solutions and path forward.

The Positive Impact of Counselling

Engaging in counselling can lead to profound personal growth and improved well-being. Many of my clients report feeling more self-aware, confident, and equipped to handle life's challenges after therapy. You might experience better relationships, reduced anxiety and stress, improved mood, and a greater sense of purpose. Counselling can help you break free from negative patterns, heal from past traumas, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. It's a journey of self-discovery that can lead to increased resilience, emotional intelligence, and overall life satisfaction. Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

How I work - In-person and Online

I offer flexible options to suit your preferences and needs. For local clients, I provide in-person sessions in a comfortable, private setting in Surrey. If you prefer the convenience of online therapy, we can connect via secure video calls, allowing you to engage in sessions from the comfort of your own space. For those who find it easier to open up while in motion, I also offer walk-and-talk therapy sessions in natural settings. Whichever format you choose, I ensure a safe, confidential environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely. We'll work together to find the approach that best supports your therapeutic journey.

Working with Couples

While I'm not a couples counsellor, I offer specialised support for couples where one partner is struggling with depression. This expertise comes from my training at the Tavistock Institute. Depression can significantly impact relationships, affecting communication and intimacy. In our sessions, we'll work together to understand these challenges, improve communication, and develop coping strategies. My approach combines individual and joint sessions to address both personal experiences and relationship dynamics. If you're facing depression as a couple, seeking help can be a powerful step towards strengthening your relationship.
